I am thrilled to share this French inspired bridal editorial, photographed by Alanah Paterson and featured on Truly and Madly.Bridal makeup and elegant hair for a wedding photography in Auckland New Zealand

Our model Natasa Unkovich wore stunning gowns by Alma J Bridal. To compliment her look I opted for an elegant, soft bridal makeup and hair which are both subtle and sophisticated.

Makeup Tips for a Romantic Bridal Look

Here are a few tips on creating this romantic bridal makeup look.

    Primer

A primer evens out the skin’s surface and helps makeup last longer.

    Foundation

Use a sheer foundation that blends with the skin without giving it heavy or cakey makeup look.

    Concealer

Apply concealer. Avoid reflective concealers for under the eye area as they can give you “panda eyes” with flash photography.

    Highlighter

Using a makeup brush highlight with a “c” shape motion across the top of the cheekbones and up towards the temples. The highlighter catches the light and gives the face more dimensions in photos.

    Soft smokey eyes

Natasa’s beauty was accentuated by creating a soft smokey eye, leaving the rest of her face very natural.
On top of the eyelids apply a pale shade of brown from Kryolan’s Natural Eye shadow palate followed by a darker shade in the sockets of the eyes and the outer corners. Finish eye makeup with a sparkle of Kryolan Satin Powder to the inside corners for a “pop” effect.

    Lashes

To get eyes that look open and fresh put a few individual lashes to the outside corners followed by two coats of a waterproof mascara.

    Blusher

For a gentle rosy glow sweep a little blush powder on the apple of the cheeks, blending it up towards the eye.

    Powder

For a flawless makeup and shine free photos dust the face with a translucent finishing powder.

    Setting Spritz

For makeup that lasts all day and night, finish with a spritz of a setting spray.

The final result is a natural radiant bridal look that photographs well and pairs perfectly with the feminine and delicate lace of the bridal gown.
