The holiday season usually means a lot of picture taking. Here are a few makeup tips to be camera ready.

The camera never captures makeup and colour as vibrant as it appears in real life. Even if you are after a subtle makeup look for your photos, you still need to exaggerate the makeup because the camera flash reflects and makes the makeup less dramatic.

    Makeup Preparation

Great skin is the foundation of any makeup look.  Applying a base of both moisturizer and primer will ensure that the makeup will stay and blend as smooth as possible, reducing imperfections. Avoid using products with SPF for photoshoots since it can often make skin look shinier in images.

    Eye Makeup

The eyes are the focal point in most portraits. Make sure the makeup defines the eyes, so they stand out. False eyelashes are another option for great eye definition. Choose a full set of lashes if you want to create true drama or individual lashes for more natural makeup look in your photos.

    Brow

Fuller brows look much better in photos than thin ones. Define them with the eyebrow pencil.

    Contouring Makeup

To properly highlight or strobe, use a concealer that is two shades lighter than your skin tone or a highlighter that flatters your complexion to emphasize the areas of your face that naturally catch the light. Sweep bronzer over the jawline, temples, sides of the nose, and just under the cheekbones to give your face a perfect shape.

    Plump Up Lips

If your lips pull a disappearing act in photos, trace the edges of your lips with a pencil that’s one shade darker than your lipstick.

    No Need to Reapply

Seal the makeup with a mattifying makeup spray.  Avoid lots of powder that can make your skin look dull in pictures. Use oil-absorbing sheets to blot away the shine on a hot day.
